Liberty Bank’s origin dates back to 1898 when members of a neighborhood church on Chicago’s North Side came together to form a mutual savings institution committed to “neighbors helping neighbors. Our local Chicago bank community commitment is more than a slogan; it’s the legal framework behind our mutual charter.
Members of a neighborhood church pooled resources to finance home purchases for each other. Then, they formed a building and loan association that became Liberty Bank for Savings. We helped to build families’ financial health and shape neighborhoods. And we still do today.
